Marija Angelovska is a conceptual multimedia artist who shares her ideas on the social platform Instagram by also pointing out the benefits of the internet that enables her to express her views to the broader audience, in a way that most of the less privileged women weren’t capable of doing so before. So far, she has taken part in various group exhibitions in the Netherlands.

Her performance and digital art is focused on finding solutions for diverse, significant socio-political contemporary problems. Her work is not only about gender, feminism or porn. She targets all the problems at once, even those that we usually perceive as private. While addressing censorship and oppression, the artist likes to ‘play’ with the idea of harassment in a way that will make others rethink their own interaction with each other.

The limitations of showing her work on an online platform are now an essential segment in her work and are actually a quirk that makes it integral. Through them, she succeeds to understand the extended gender inequality amongst the creative individuals in the internet world – censorship being part of it. However, Angelovska has become more than a passive observer of these phenomena and amongst the answers, she’s already providing with her art – she maps all the possible strategies for influencing that were not available for artists in the past, as well as all of their active roles in the contemporary life.
