PERIOD Skopje
PERIOD Skopje is a chapter of Period. The Menstrual Movement and a youth-led nonprofit organization. We fight to end period poverty and the stigma. Our work is based on services (free, safe, and available menstrual products), education (the spread of factual information and breaking down myths), and advocacy (through systematic change to menstrual equality).

In collaboration with Period. The Menstrual Movement Skopje
When in a world of widespread inequality, xenophobia, police brutality, populist and fundamentalist uprisings, racism and ecoide, young women come together, they can create lasting change. With their joined efforts, young women are dismantling patriarchy, addressing human rights violations, and overturning inequalities. ПРВО ПА ЖЕНСКО (FIRSTBORN GIRL) has always been an open space for local youth initiatives and organizations with core feminist agenda to support them in making the best possible impact. Hance, this year, we teamed up with the girls from PERIOD Skopje in the development and realization of the Festival’s program primarily intended for the youth audience, focused on period poverty.
Access to sanitary products, safe, hygienic spaces in which to use them, and the right to manage menstruation without shame or stigma, is essential for anyone who menstruates. Unfortunately, for many, this is not a reality. Period poverty is not just a potential health risk - it can also mean women and girls’ education, well-being, and sometimes entire lives are affected.
