PeachPreach | I was alone

There is no spring without PeachPeach, and in addition to this event heralding spring, it also heralds the eleventh edition of the Feminist Culture and Action Festival FIRSTBORN GIRL! PeachPreach will be held in the good old Frosina Cinema (MKC) on April 6, starting at 8 p.m., where it was held for the first time in 2016.

As every year, PeachPreach tries to open a space for current topics related to the position of women in our country and the wider region, especially in view of the recent surge of news about crimes committed against women in moments when due to a combination of circumstances they found themselves alone with the perpetrator.

That is why we chose the theme "I was alone" to emphasize the exposure to violence, the misplacement of blame and the frequent failure to act. In addition, modern psychology claims that precisely abandonment is the subliminal space in which trauma occurs.

At the same time, from a broader perspective, the topic is also a commentary on the lack of systemic support that women face in fulfilling the many roles in society - from the most traditional ones (work in the home, raising children and caring for the elderly, people with disabilities), all the way to those considered atypical (management and political positions, sports, etc.). Seen from the opposite perspective, being alone in the sense of Woolf's own room is that space of freedom necessary for the emancipation and release of female creativity. We will hear more about the various interpretations of this topic from our storytellers.

The event will be followed by a DJ set by Diah at Frosina's buffet
Tickets for the event are available at the MKC ticket office and online at https://bileti.mkc.mk/ in the amount of 200 denars.

The event was realized with the support of Sweden and the Kvinna till Kvinna foundation.
