Synopsis

“How my life became a cultural worker - cultural workers take the stage”

The lack of working conditions that
causes a fragile, irregular, unreliable or
precarious way of working, as well as the
constant preoccupation with professional
engagements is one of the main topics of
this performance. It aims to point out and
emphasize the conditions and the context in
which independent cultural workers work.
The content is based on the research on the
working conditions in the field of culture,
and it rests on comparative analysis with
other countries in the region and wider, in
order the need for changes in the «Rulebook
for determining the criteria, procedure and
manner of providing favorable conditions
and remunerations from the funds of the
state budget for the independent artists», as
well as the Law on Culture to be emphasized.
Biljana Tanurovska Kjulavkovski
is cultural worker, lecturer, consultant,
researcher, cultural manager and curator.
Since 2003 she is a co founder and executive
director of NGO Lokomotiva and one of
the co founders of Kino Kultura and the
regional platform for contemporary dance
Nomad Dance Academy. Ivana Vaseva is
curator, researcher and author. She curated
and produced the last five editions of the
contemporary arts festival AKTO, she worked
on the topic of the importance of archiving
and museum collections, on the regional
project “If Buildings Could Talk” and the
platform “Culture for Social Change”.
