Jelena Višnjić, PhD, Gender Studies (University of Novi Sad). She is the executive director and co-founder of the BeFem feminist cultural centre, a lecturer and associate of the Women’s Studies Centre in Belgrade, and an activist of the feminist movement. She lives and works in Belgrade. Research interests: gender studies, media studies, cultural studies and anthropology of popular culture. Jelena has published numerous articles, as well as the publications ‘Solidarity and Feminist Politics,’ ‘The Politics of Representing the LGBTIQ Population in the Serbian Media,’ and ‘Feminist Responses and Initiatives in Contemporary Serbia’ (with Katarina Lončarević).
